Understanding Carwashing at 24/7 & FAQ’s

To get the best value and the best results in these tough times, this
may help you decide how to best achieve that result.

Laser Wash

Machines can’t see dirt, insects, road grime, or the location of it. If it has been a few weeks between washes, we strongly suggest you go into a bay and use pre-soak, then the foam brush in those bad areas where road grime tends to stick. Then the laser wash for best results. Identifying road grime can be seen in the following picture.

If you can feel a slime on your finger after doing this, you have too much road grime for any chemical or machine to remove. There is no safe chemical available globally that will remove this smear. This shows up more prominently in dark coloured cars. The Ultimate laser wash blasts the sides, underbody and applies special protective waxes and polishes giving longer protection from road grime and great shine for best value and should be done every two weeks or thereabouts for the best results and lasting shine.

The Regular wash still uses the same presoak chemicals and processes to blast the dirt from your vehicle, but it does not include the underbody wash as you enter or the tri colour wax as an extra protectant. This wash is ideal for people who wash regularly and just need the basics and every second or third wash use the Ultimate to touch up the waxes and shine.

We use fantastic chemicals made in Australia, environmentally friendly and the best machinery. If you wish to use cash for any service at our wash please ask our attendants and they will gladly oblige. What machines won’t do is reach into your wheel spokes and remove all the brake dust, they won’t remove old road grime, get dents out, remove scratches and they won’t turn a pig’s ear into a silk purse!!!!!

Washing in the Bays

This hands on experience is a much loved pastime in our wash and is always a highly used part of our operation. We have on the walls of each bay suggestion on how to get the best results from using the bay as per below sign. This will depend on each vehicle as to how dirty they are and their age. Sometimes we have customers saying the Skatter wax have left a colour on their paint work and we can see it on our cameras as well, but don’t worry those colours are phyto active, meaning if you leave your car in the sun for a day it will fade out. But more importantly is understanding why this can happen.

If the paintwork on the car is old or faded it can be chalky to feel and will absorb the colour but will fade out. The other instance of this in a new car we also see from time to time is just one or two panels are affected. In every case we find that those panels have been resprayed for some reason and the protection on the new paintjob is not as good as the original factory paintwork.

If this happens to you, rub your hand over the good panels then over the damaged ones, you will feel the difference in your fingertips. Again this will fade out with a day or two outside, so don’t panic. We encourage everyone to leave the bays as you would want to find them, but sometimes vehicles that have had a good weekend away in the mud can leave mud etc everywhere which we will clean up as soon as our wonderful staff come to work, so pick a clean bay if this happens to you.

Dogwash AND Vending

Again, we are using Australian-made, environmentally friendly chemicals that are gentle on you and, most importantly, on your favourite friend to make everyone’s experience enjoyable. Now, with new dual dog washes, your wait time will be minimal. We have delicious and healthy, all-natural, Australian-made dog treats available in our vending machine inside the dog wash area to treat your friend or bribe them to stand still!

Vacuuming

We had for many years the very noisy vacuums we used to call screamers but whilst Covid was on I designed and built our own central vacuum system the give more suction and reliability without the noise. I had all the components sent to me through lockdown and then proceeded to make cabinets out of cardboard and tape so they would fit, work and we can service them easily. I then pulled all my boxes apart meticulously and sent them to an electricidal and stainless specialist in Sydney who was able to reconstruct my cardboard concepts into what they are today.

If you have an issue with the suction in any of the Vacs and others are working well look above your head and you will see a pressure gauge as per pic below if it is showing pressure the same as the one next door will mean the person before you has sucked up a large object, like a sock or pens or hankies which have blocked the black suction line.

Move to another vac and we can refund you or if you can see a blockage at the end of the nozzle you can unscrew these left handed if you are a little handy and clean them out, but better still see my staff who will get you sucking. Another suggestion to prevent any marks on your car is not to pull the hose over your car as sometimes if the floor is damp there can be grit on the outside of that pipe, so we suggest to bring it through your car if possible. These vacuums are not designed to suck water as it will not only block the entire system and prevent others from using it which is unacceptable.

Soaps

We are very conscious of what soaps we are applying and ensure they are applied at the recommended rates to do the ultimate job they are designed to achieve. We only use Australian made Biodegradable soaps that are environmentally friendly, safe for our staff to handle and you to use.

We have in past years used a mix of imported acid and alkaline pre-soaks which work well but some of the imported chemicals are so strong they can tarnish polished aluminium bull bars and car trims which obviously is not desirable on cars or humans. Most carwashes are still using this method in their pre-soaks. Our soaps are Tuff on dirt, yet safe on cars, people and all aftermarket ceramic coatings. We use Ceramic coatings in our Tri foams and multi layered ceramic protection throughout the wash.

Health and Safety

We have been audited for our health and safety on the property and we are very glad to report we are amongst the best carwash compliant operations in the country. We do have a Defibrillator on site in the event of a major event as well as a full medical kit if required.

Security and lighting

As part of making your experience enjoyable we want everyone to feel safe whilst on site with very strong lighting and 28 cameras beaming constant footage to the cloud. We are able to find a lost coin or a left purse if required or replay someone stealing our dog bowl or vandalize the place for Police to corner. In the event you do leave something behind, please report it to us as soon as possible so we can track it down for you.

FAQ

A. Addressing this issue involves considering several factors.

  • The Autowash operates within a limited timeframe to clean, rinse, and apply protectant to the vehicle. The application of cleaning chemicals is also constrained both in terms of time and strength to ensure effective cleaning without causing damage.
  • The type of soil on the car plays a crucial role, especially when driving through roadworks or busy roads with heavy traffic, particularly in wet conditions. Stubborn deposits like road grime or traffic film, if left untreated, may require manual cleaning before the Autowash. The volume of soil affects the chemical penetration to the paint; heavily soiled cars may necessitate manual cleaning.
  • The effectiveness of the Autowash is influenced by the vehicle’s prior cleaning history. Regular cleaning and the application of a protectant contribute to optimal results. Additionally, the condition of the vehicle’s paint, whether faded, oxidized, or lacking a clear coat, impacts soil adhesion and cleaning difficulty.

A. Similar factors as above apply, with additional considerations for wheel cleaning.

  • Brake dust, challenging to remove due to its composition, can bake onto wheel rim surfaces, especially with various paints and coatings and heat.
  • The shape of the wheels may impede sufficient chemical application and high-pressure rinsing. For optimal results, a quick hand wash of the wheels before using the Autowash is recommended.

A. The Autowash is touchless, preventing physical damage to paint protection coatings. The chemicals used are specifically formulated to protect paint and coatings, with confirmation from our supplier that they do not impact the coating or warranty. In fact, they are designed to enhance the protective qualities of the protective coatings.

At our car wash, we recently had a customer concerned that the wash might be damaging the plastic mouldings on their 4-year-old car. After some research, we learned some interesting things about plastic trim, and we want to share this with you so you can better understand how to care for your car.

What Causes Plastic to Fade?

Plastic mouldings, especially the black trim pieces, are prone to fading over time, and it’s not caused by our car wash products. The fading is mostly due to UV damage from the sun. Here’s why:

  1. UV Rays Breakdown: Plastic naturally contains oils, and when it’s exposed to the sun, UV rays break down these oils, causing the plastic to dry out. This leads to fading and even cracking over time.
  2. No UV Protection: Unlike your car’s paint, headlights, or wheels, the plastic trim doesn’t have a protective UV coating. This makes it more vulnerable to fading. The plastic is also affected by harsh weather and road contaminants, which can speed up the damage.
  3. How Fast Can It Happen?: Plastic can start to fade in as little as 2 years of regular sun exposure! I’ve seen this happen on my own son’s ute, and it’s a common issue for many car owners.

How to Protect Your Plastic Trim

The good news is there are ways to restore and protect your plastic trim, so it stays looking good for longer:

  • UV Protection: Some manufacturers add UV protectant to plastic mouldings, but it’s usually enough to get them through the warranty period. If you want to keep your plastic looking fresh, consider using a UV protectant product that will help preserve its colour and prevent further damage.
  • Regular Care: There are some great tips and tricks to help maintain your trim, which are explained in the video linked here. It’s definitely worth watching if you’re keen on keeping your plastic looking its best!

Is Our Car Wash to Blame?

Rest assured, the chemicals we use at our car wash are safe for your car’s plastic. We use specialty non-corrosive, Australian-made cleaning products that contain far less caustic than imported or cheaper products. Plus, we avoid using harsh chlorinating products like bleach. This means the risk of fading from our chemicals, whether it’s from one wash or one hundred, is irrelevant. Our products are formulated to be gentle yet effective, ensuring no damage to your plastic trim.

The fading you notice is almost always due to the sun’s UV rays.

In conclusion, while UV damage is the biggest culprit when it comes to fading plastic trim, following the right care steps can help you maintain the appearance of your car for years to come!

If your plastic is already faded or streaky, we recommend using a trim and plastic restorer, which can help restore them to a like-new appearance. It’s worth a try of a product like “Mother Naturally Black trim and plastic restorer”

Video bellow will show you how to restore Plastic Trim in your Car and the right products to use for best results:

A. Usage frequency depends on factors like weather, location, and distance traveled. Generally, fortnightly use is advisable. However, a monthly hand wash is recommended to address road grime or traffic film haze and allow the protectant to adhere to the paint, so cleaning is more effective when you do use the Autowash.

A. Drip points and areas where chemicals can collect might result in spots after the wash, these spots are not detrimental and can be easily wiped away with a chamois.  We provide a SPOT-FREE rinse application to reduce the risk of water spotting from the town water used in the cleaning stages.  Sometimes soap residue can linger in places like the mirrors or under the spoilers at the rear where the rinse may not reach.

A. All the soaps have their own direct lines back to the engine room from above the bay, so instantly when you select another function it begins immediately from that point. It is purely physics that it takes time to get to the end of the gun and the average time is between 5-8 seconds. The product travels from the top through the arm and down to the gun in a 6mm hose and the nozzle is just half a millimetre, so it just takes that time for all the previous product to be pushed out. We have the smallest hoses available to minimize the time as we are conscious of time ticking away. As a tip if it is a concern to you leave a small patch to do on your existing product, select change then complete the left bit whilst the new product is coming down the blue pipe.
